Madge Alberta H0LMES Fleming, Born August 24, 1888, Clymer, PA. Died Indiana Hospital, Indiana, PA, Burial at Sample Run Cemetery, Clymer, PA (Father: Dorcie D. HOLMES, Mother: Mary Catherine MENTCH Holmes). My memory of Grandmother Madge Holmes is limited. I recall them living in the caretaker's home on Bennett's Farm, Indiana, PA. My only memory of her is in the cellar of the farm house and her making butter, buttermilk and being given home made peanut butter cookies and buttermilk. I can also recall her allowing me to work the buttermilk churn. When she died, the living room was cleared and her casket was brought in and set up there so family and friends could come pay their respect. A cousin and myself were caught out back, around that same time, behind the chicken house (Harry Styles was cousin's name) smoking a cigarette. He had taken it from a pack that was laying on the kitchen table. Upon hearing our name called I stuck the smoking cigarette in my pocket and it burnt a hole in my trousers. Dad later, back home, warmed the back of my trousers as well.
