Elijah Creel d. bet. 1898 and 1899, in Mobile Co.,AL. family stories say he was killed by alligators while hunting in a swamp near his home, he was found by his neighbors and family. Death of Elijah Creel was printed in a book titled: "Anywhere I Wander, I find Facts and Legends Relating to the Creel Family" by Adolphus Owens. Hardy's children said Elijah's nickname was "carrot top", due to his bright red hair, and he was also a tall big man. I was also told by his grandson that Elijah may have been murdered in Wheelerville, AL.
