Cam worked for the railroad as an switchman. He enlisted in April 1918 in the US Army. Enter service at camp Leavenworth Kansas. Served in the A.E.F. in France in the 14th Grand Division. Was discharged at Camp Pike Arkansas in Aug 1919. He earned the Victory Medal with one battle clasp. After the war he work for the Sante Fe railroad. He was killed in a train accident in 1931 and is buried at Evergreen Cemetery.

MRS. ETTA CREEL GABEL, wife of James Gray Gabel Sr, a native of Meridian, Miss;
and a resident of Whistler, Ala; for a number of years, died at a local
infirmary at 11:30 O'clock Friday morning Oct 5 1945. Funeral services will be
held at the Roche Funeral home at time to be announced later. Interment will be
in the Whistler Cemetery. She is survived by her husband James Gray Gabel Sr.
of Whistler, Ala; Four daughters Mrs. Ella Key of Chickasaw, Ala; Mrs. H.C.
Gabel of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. W.F. Adams of Mobile and Mrs. A.F. Pratt of
Krafton, Ala; five sons James Gray Gabel Jr of Mobile, Robert Henry Gabel of
Pascagoula, Miss; PVT Bowin Gabel, U.S. Army; Roy Harold Gabel of Gulfport,
Miss; and Herman Gabel U.S. Navy. 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren
Nieces nephews and other relatives. Funeral Arrangements by Roche Mortuary,
Mobile, Alabama.

Thomas H. Creel and Fanny Taft of Meridian, MS and moved to Mobile, AL about
1902 with her father.
