Charles Creel was born Circa. 1756 in Orange County, Virginia and died June 17, 1822 in Greensburg, Green County, Kentucky. The 1780 records finds Charles Creel in Orange County, Virginia.

The 1782 Records of Enumeration, 1782-85, found Charles Creel, Charles Rigney, Achilles Stapp, Joshua Stapp, Joshua Stapp Jr. and Thomas Stapp all in Orange County, Virginia on the list of Thomas Barbour. The 1788 records finds Charles Creel in Fayette County, Kentucky.

The Creels were a part of a large group of settlers that had come to South Central Kentucky from Orange County, Virginia. Charles Creel with wife Sarah and sons came with the Stapp, Garnett, Atkin, and Dahoney Families. Associated with them were some other families-Burbridge, Bridgewater, Lightfoot, Nelson, Grady, Jones, Yates and Waggener.

Charles Rigney is found in the 1782 records of Pittsylvania County, Virginia and in Orange County, Virginia in 1785. He married Mary (?). His son Jesse Rigney was bom in Virginia and died in Greensburg, Green, Kentucky. Descendants of Jesse include Anderson Rigney, James Monroe Rigney, Samuel Chambliss Rigney, and Robert Lee Rigney.

The Creel, Rigney and Stapp descendants lived in, and migrated from, the same parts of Virgina and Kentucky before taking different routes to Texas. Jesse Rigney lived in Green County, Kentucky at the same time as Elijah and Micajah Cager Creel, jr. and other Creels. The Stapp Family is recorded in Virginia in the same counties as Charles Creel. They migrated to Kentucky just as the Creel and Rigney Families. The Stapps of Texas are recorded in Williamson County Texas.

The Creel and Stapp families were joined by the marriage of Charles Creel and Sarah Stapp, daughter of Joshua Stapp Jr. and Hannah Durham. The Creel and Rigney families were joined by the marriage of Louis Guy Creel, Sr., son of William Robert Creel and Neva Irene Crenshaw, and Ione Rigney, daughter of Robert Lee Rigney and Nora Patts, in Hunt County, Texas in 1924.

The Creel and Stewart families were joined by the marriage of William L. Creel and Norma Lenore Stewart in 1964.
