Charles married Sarah Stapp in 1778 in Orange County, Virginia. Sarah was the descendant of Abraham Stapp bom Abt. 1620 in England and daughter of Joshua Stapp and Hannah Durham. Charles Creel was a Revolutionary War soldier serving in the Third Company, Eighth Virginia Regiment Volunteers, Captain George Slaughter's Company, under the command of Col. Abraham Bowman. Charles and Sarah are probably buried in the Creel-Taylor Cemetery to the rear of Elijah's home in Greensburg, Kentucky. Charles and Sarah had seven sons, Micajah 'Cager", John, Simeon, Silas, Durham, Elijah and Elsey. Descendants of the family migrated through Illinois, Iowa and Missouri, to Texas where some settled in East Texas and some in West Texas. Some of the names in the tree are Atkins, Bidgewater, Burbridge, Crenshaw, Grady, Hall, Howe, Lucas, Maddox, Overall, Ripey, Stapp, Stewart and Waggener.
