Charles died in Greensburg Ky. He and Sarah are buried in the Taylor-Creel Cemetery behind Elijah's house in Greensburg, Green, Kentucky.

Charles Creel Military Service: Served in the Eight Virgina Regiment, Capt. George Slaughter's Co., under the Command of Col. Abraham Bowman. The 8th Reg. battled at Charleston, South Carolina, marched to the defense of southern Georgia, returned to Virgina, then north to New Jersey, Pennsylvania and finally Valley Forge. By this time Charles might have been acquainted with his future brother-in-law Achilles Stapp who served in the 7th Virginia Reg. commanded by William Woodford. The two regiments were joined in the Continental Army by General George Washington.

After the war Charles and his family moved to the frontier sometime between 1784 and 1786, now Kentucky. Records reflect the first grand jury of Adair county was made up of the following men: Robert Telford, John Votaw, John Montgomery, Garrett Conover, William Hurt, CHARLES CREEL, Robert Fletcher, Peter Demoss, Benjain Nailor, John Breeding, John Bryant, Stephen White, Robert Kelso, Henry Link, James Vaughn, Thomas Selby, James Walker, Alexander Walker, Andrew Ewing and Robert Craig, With Telford as foreman.

Charles was listed as an Executor, of the Will of Reuben Waggener June 23, 1809, along with his son Simeon, who married Matilda Waggener. Reuben Waggener had come to Kentucky from Virginia with the Creel, Dahoney, Atkins, Garnett, Lightfoot, Nelson, Grady and Jones families.

The Last Will and Testament of Charles Creel: Wife Sally gets my Negro man, Sam, Negro woman, Jean, $100 and household furniture; Heirs of my son, Micajah, deceased, to get $680 to be divided amongst them; son John gets $647; son Elijah gets $700; son Elzy gets $700; son Simeon gets $589; nephew Benjamin S. Creel, heir of my son Silas, deceased, to get $800. It has always been my wish to divide my earthly estate between my children. It will be by aspiring to a small book of charges, dated December 3, 1821, that I have previously given to my son, Durham Creel, property and money that I value at $1200 and the several items of property and money that I have given to my other sons, which may be seen in said book, together with the foregoing devises, will make them all equal in the said sum of $1200 each: $150 goes to Margaret Workman, whom I have raised. My nephew, Benjamin S. Creel is to get a child's part and the heirs of Cager Creel, deceased, are to have one child's part equally divided between them. I want my Estate that 'is left to be sold to the highest bidder, and slaves to be sold amongst my children to the highest bidder. Executors, my sons, John, Simeon and Elijah.

In The Name of God Amen I, Joshua Stapp of the County of Orange being in
perfect health and sound sence of memory & mindfull of the uncertainty of
this life do make & ordain this my last will & Testament in manner and form
following. First I give my soul to almighty God who gave it me trusting
In Jesus Christ for the remifsion of my sins and as for what Worldly goods
it hath pleased god to bestow me I give in manner & form following Viz.
Item my will and desire is that my Negro man & Negro woman ??? be both free
& at their own disposal and if their should be any Charges required by the
Court towards their being legally set free from Bondage then my will is that
such Charge be paid out of my estate. Item my will is that my grandson
Achillifs Stapp have my Negro woman Cate. Item I give the residue of my
Estate not already mention to be divided between the persons whose names
I hereafter mention (Viz) my Grandson Achillifs Stapp, my Grand daughter
Lucy Willhoit? My Grand daughter Sarah Creel & my Grand daughter Martha
Hubbard to them & their heirs forever. Item my sill is that my Estate be not
sold but be appraised and divided according to appraisment. Lastly I
constitute & appoint my Grandson Achillifs Stapp Executor to this my last
Will & Testament Revoking all former Wills by me made acknowledging this
to be my last will & Testament. In witnefs where of I have hereunto set my
hand & Seal This 19th Day of December One Thousand Seven hundred & Eighty
