5. Silas² Creel (Charles¹) was born 1784 in Orange County, Virgina, and died April/1817 in Green County, Kentucky. He married Elizabeth S. Cook December/11/1814 in Green, Green County, Kentucky. She died September/1821 in Green County, Kentucky.

Last Will and Testament of Silas Creel; Wife Elizabeth S. Creel; My faithful friend and Physician, Dr. Nimrod H. Arnold, to have $50, in addition to what he is entitled, for caring for me during my present illness. On my decease, a dissolution of the partnership between my brother and myself will take place. It is my will that the Firm continue in the name of E.W. Creel and that of Samuel Cooke, be appointed my representative on behalf of my wife and son and continue 9 months and as much longer as my Executors shall deem necessary for the purpose of facilitating the settlement of outstanding debts. After 9 months, all of my personal property to be sold; Son, Benjamin Creel, ......1/2 of my Estate, managed by my Executor, until he is 21;Executors Elijah Creel, William B. Cooke; Witnesses, John Barret, P.B. Atwood; Proven, April 28, 1817.

Last Will and Testament of Elizabeth S. Cooke Creel, being very sick; Son Benjamin Silas Creel, gets all my Estate to be paid by my Executors at his arriving at age 21, I desire that my son Benjamin continue to live with my mother as long as my mother desires and at her death to live with his uncle Elijah Creel. I desire that my son, Benjamin be educated and instructed on the English, Latin and Greek languages and sciences that best qualifies him for the profession he may choose between the ages 16-18 and my Executor to encourage him.

6. Durham² Creel (Charles¹) was born September/16/1786 in Fayette County, Kentucky, and died April/04/1864 in McDonough County, Illinois. He married Mary Polly Smith July/24/1806 in Adair Co Ky. Marriage book-Edwin Hall-John Grady, daughter of James Smith and Margaret Truax. She was born 1787, and died Unknown in McDonough County, Illinois.

Early Settlement
Durham Creel came to McDonough county in the spring of 1833, and located on
section 18, Mound township where he improved a farm. He was born in
Kentucky, and came to this county from that state. He died in 1867 and his
wife followed him on the long journey, in 1873.

page 974 educational
An early school was taught by Durham Creel, on section 20, near James
Kepples place, in 1839 or 40. It was held in a frame school house, which was
probably the second frame building erected in the township. The building was
also used for church purposes and place of amusement.

Durham and his family migrated to Mc Donough County, Illinois about 1833.
