A Broadside after the Mexican Revolution.

A Broadside after the Mexican Revolution.
An important broadside issued by M. Chao, Military Governor of the State of Chihuahua several days after being installed as same by Pancho Villa. Villa assumed this office but transfered it to Chao in deference to Carranza and to attend to other duties. It is a Notice to the Public that only currency of the new government can be circulated until January 31, 1914 and after that those circulating them will be subject to penalties as couterfeiters (usually death!). An important document showing the consolidation of authority and the struggle for change and control by Villa and his followers after their overthrow of the dictator Porfirio Diaz.
