They were living in Waterford Township when William was born. Justin was listed as a photographer in the 1870 U.S. Census. He was a coal miner in Ohio, made violins by hand, one went to the St. Louis Fair.

From the June 24, 1870 Census of Washington County, Waterford Township, Beverly City, Post Office of Lowell, Ohio, Justin Steel Randolph and Family were living or boarding in the household of (Dorcas) Fletcher. I have reason to believe they were there because their house had burned down.
The 1870 census also gives Justin's age as being 28 years old. We know that is not correct. It should have been 38.




According to Justin Steel Randolph's pension application, Lorenda B. Price died October 8,1883.Application Number 729809

Private, 39th Regiment of US Ohio Vols, enlisted by Capt. George W. Baker at Nelsonville, Ohio on July 20, 1861 to serve 3 years, is 29 years of age, five feet six inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair, coalminer. During last two months said soldier has been unfit for duty sixty days. "Said Justin S. Randolph was first taken with Rheumatism about the 1st September when his Regiment left Camp Benton. He was left there in hospital where he has remained ever since." "Chronic Rheumatism and Dyspepsia of long standing, 4th St. Hospital St. Louis Mo. Dec 17th 1861". Discharged 8 January 1862, St. Louis, Mo. Schuyler Hamilton, Brig Gen Vols USA, commanding the St. Louis District.

I have since discovered that Lorinda's grandmother's maiden name was Bennett!
Have not confirmed Lorinda's date of death nor have we located burial place.
According to Justin Steel Randolph's pension application, Lorenda B. Price died October 8,1883.Application Number 729809
