Hello,We are trying to go back in time and find my husbands relatives. We know some information but would love to have anything that might steer us in the right direction.

William Crittenden was born in Kentucky and married Mary ? They lived in Shannon County, Mo. Their children born there were: Francis, Eliza, Nancy, Thomas, Elizabeth, Susannah and Charles. The family came to Chester in the 1850s. William Crittenden was teaching school at Rockwood when he died December 21, 1878. Thomas, so of Wm and Mary, served in the 10th Illnois Infantry and died from wounds received during the Civil War and is buried in the Military Cemetery at Nashville, TN.

Francis, so of Wm & Mary, enlisted when he was twenty years old in 1861. He served four years in company H of the 22nd Illinois Infantry. He married Adeline Kirk. Their children were William, Stephen, Mary, Olevia, Francis, Murray, Walter, Luda and Alva. Alva Logan Crittenden married 1st Cora Tiner. They had two children; Clayton and Carlita. His second wife was Ida Sandlin. They were married September 20, 1911 at Cora City, Illinois. They had a daughter, Louise. Louise married Eddie Schneier and had one son, Eddie Ralph.

My father was Alva (Clayton) Crittenden. He married Mary Miller, who's mother was Mary Sadler and moved to Little Creek, VA with 4 children: Alva, Jr (Bud), William, Carol Ray and Carlita. I know very little about my family and only the immediate ones. I have found a cousin (Dorothy Gray) who's mother Adeline was my father's Aunt. We visited Chester Illinois and found the graves of many of my relatives but no one to tell us much about them.

Looking for the link to William. Is it a Richard H Crittenden? He is mentioned on the page where we got most of this information but there is no relation mentioned to William. Can you help? We are eagerly waiting to hear from any and all with information.
Thanks.
