The Hastings Family is rich in genealogy tracing individuals by name, and family directly to the year 1471 AD. The Scotish branch originated in Dumfries, Scotland, and migrated to Quebec, Canada with THOMAS HASTINGS arriving initially in about/before 1899 to establish a home and fortune while awaiting the arrival of his wife, JANET GLEN FISHER, and eight children. The ship passager manifest lists Janet, and her childre by name. My Father, ROBERT MURRAY HASTINGS was the youngest of the children, he was born 25 Jan 1914 probably in Regina, Canada, and the entire Hastings Family mirgrated into the United States via the Portal of Entry North Dakota in 1923. My Aunts, Robina, Elizabeth, and Bella with a son, James remained in Canada, eventually settling in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
My Hastings Family started with the marriage of Robert Murray Hastings to his wife, Margaret J. McCarron of Chicago, IL on November 29, 1937. They had four natural children, and one cousin, James Martin Quinn, who was raised by my parents, after his parents were deceased in 1941. My Brothers, Thomas, Patrick, and sister, Roberta Mae "Tospy" Hastings, nee Sanford
were raised in Chicago, all married, and raised families. Unfortunately, Thomas passed away in July, 2004, and Roberta died in November, 2004. Patrick and James continue to reside in Illinois, and Arizonia, respectively. Both have wonderful children, and grandchildren.
I married a wonderful girl from Maine, we have been happily married for over 47 years, one son, George with three grandchildren. All residing in California, happy and healthy.

Our son is a NAVY SEAL, and retired on 1 July 2006 after a 30 year naval career. He was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal, and served as the Cmmand Master Chief for SEAL TEAM 1 and SPECIAL Warfare command, also a Navy Parachutist and Navy Diver. A great American and we love him.
