"Funeral Services for Physician to be Held Tomorrow Afternoon"
"Dr. John Wesley Fawcett, pioneer McKeesport resident and prominent in civic affairs, died yesterday at his home, 1104 Lincoln Way. He was 87. Born in the Fawcett Plan, named for his parents, Dr. Fawcett was the son of William and Margaret Robinson Fawcett. He was graduated from Mt. Union College, Alliance O., of which he was a trustee at his death and from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Fawcett also operated a drug store for years at Fifth Ave. and Canter St. in McKeesport. He was former treasurer and director of the YMCA, director of the Peoples City Bank, the McKeesport Hospital, McKeesport Tin Plate Corp and for 15 years was president of the Versailles Township school board. He was active in Masonic circles. Dr. Fawcett is survived by his widow, Carrie A. Rodgers Fawcett. The body will remain at the home until noon tomorrow when it will be taken to the Coursin St. Methodist Church of which he was a charter member. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the church with Rev. J.W. VanHorn and W.S. Lockard, of Pittsburgh, officiating. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery."
