Notes for Daniel Weaver:
Readers of thi s report must keep in mind that the genealogical conclusions shown here about D aniel Weaver and his immediate family are based on very meager proof. Most of t his family's genealogy is based on circumstantial evidence and strong family tr adition. The purpose of this report is to provide the foundation for a search f or better evidence through a presentation of clues and known facts.

In this report, which is based on the theory of Martha Heinemann regarding interpretati on of a crucial 1831 Power of Attorney, we make these assumptions:

1. Daniel Weaver was apparently married at least twice as one strong family tradition in dicates Peter, Sarah and Nancy were brothers and sisters with no mention of oth er siblings, while another says Frances, Samuel, David, Peter, Lucy, Daniel (Jr ), and John are siblings with no mention of Sarah and Nancy.

2. Daniel's son Samuel often lived in the same locale as another Samuel Weaver, who was likely a distant relative. When locals needed to differentiate between the two they u sed the terms, "Big Samuel" or "Senior" for the former, "Little Samuel" or "Jun ior" for latter. (According to descendants of "Big Samuel," he was in fact a la rge man well over six feet tall.) "Little Samuel" had a brother John who marrie d "Big Samuel's" sister Frances. Both "Little Samuel" and his brother John (and wife Frances) ultimately settled in White Co., Tennessee. Both Samuels as well as this John served in the American Revolutionary War (ARW).

3. In this re port we assume three stepdaughters of Daniel Weaver: Lucy (Weaver) Lee, wife of Robert Lee; Sarah (Weaver) Hinkle, wife of John Hinkle; and Nancy (Weaver) Lod en, wife of John? Loden.

The LDS IGI has a record of a sealing for Daniel Weaver of Virginia, b 27 Nov 1733 in Virginia, a son of Thomas Weaver and the husband of Anna Stout. Eff orts to substantiate the information of this sealing were not successful.
---- ----------------------------------------------------
The "Bedford Co. Power of Attorney" (see below) lists an 1800 grant to the father of the children named in the document, hence we assume that Daniel died after the date of the grant.
James Weaver, John W eaver and Thomas Weaver are found on a 1764 tithe list for Cornwall Parish, Hal ifax Co., VA, (Now Charlotte Co., VA.) [The IGI (above) lists James and John as two sons of Thomas Weaver. James Weaver is a well documented early resident of Charlotte Co., Va.]
