I am researching the following surnames: Crockett, Goffinet, Lachance, Dean, Asbury, Lewis, Scharfenberger, Hebert, Blankenship, Stafford, Watts, Osburn, Wooten, Ponsard, Weis, Pinard, Leclerc, Brunt, Brown, Handley, Belcher, Justice, and Perdue. My oldest ancestors discovered to date are Asher Crockett, born 1760 in Hampshire County, VA--Asher may have changed his name from James Anderson to avoid a cruel master; Richard Blankenship, born about 1692, and wife Elizabeth and father Ralph (dob unknown); James Stafford, married to Huldah Blankenship (Huldah born 1816); William Asbury, husband of Cynthia Watts (Cynthia born 1830 in VA); John Dean, husband of Martha Osburn (Martha born 1841 in VA); Harrison Lewis, born 1825 in KY; Castle Wooten, born 1831 in KY; Gilles Goffinet, born before 1600 in Les Bulles, Belgium; Mary Ponsard, born 1818 in Belgium; Adam Scharfenberger, born 1829 in Bavaria; Anna Weis, born 1840 in Bavaria; Modeste Joseph LaChance and wife Malvina Pinard, both born in St. Sophie, Quebec, probably in the 1850's; Jean-Baptiste Hebert, born late 1700's in Quebec, Ernestine LeClaire, born about 1853 in Plessisville, Quebec; Margaret Brunt, born 1716 , wife of John Stafford, Sr., both born in Staffordshire, England. I am particularly interested in the Crockett line, Asher being very problematical, but I would love to hear about any of these lines. The Crocketts, Deans, Asburys, Watts, Blankenships, and Osborns are all from VA and WV so far. The Heberts, Pinards, LaChances, and LeClaires stem from Quebec, VT, and NH. The Scharfenburgers and Weises start in Bavaria and end up in Louisville, KY. The Goffinets start in Belgium, go through Leopold, IN, and then to Louisville, KY. Some of the Staffords I have begin in VA, while others start in England and Ireland. The Lewises and Wootens start in Kentucky and move to VA and WV. Much of what I have is derived from other people whose lines cross mine. I don't have documentation for all of what is here.
