-
When Elizabeth Ingo Dozier (mother of both John & Leonard Dozier III) died in 1748 she named sons Leonard & James as executors, although John was the oldest son. It appears that John was already out of the State of Virginia & in Granville Co., N. C. where he received a land grant (DB-B p 273) in 1753. He continues to show in Granville and Bute Counties until 1779. In 1779 Bute was discontinued and Warren County, North Carolina, formed. In Granville John & Sibillah Dozier deed land to Leonard Dozier. In Warren County they deed land to James & wife Mary and William Webb & wife Sarah.

Used his tobacco mark at the Colchester Store in Fairfax Co during 1759-1765. Served in Rev. war by providing beef to the army. Moved to Lunenburg Co in 1765, in vestry book of Cumberland Parish. All six of his sons migrated to SC.

All of these deeds were witnessed and proved by either Leonard or James Dozier. It is believed that John and Sibellah were the parents of Leonard, James , and Sarah & as they married each was given land. James & Mary were married by 1764 because a deed where they sell lands shows that. In Warren "Old Bute" Will Book A p. 272 is the will of John Malone dated 6 Feb 1774 in which he names his son-in-law as James Dozier. John had a son Wood Malone - a name carried down through the James Dozier line. It appears that James's wife was Mary Malone & it is believed that this is the same James Dozier & wife Mary Malone Dozier who received a land headright grant in 1786 in Wilkes County, Georgia for himself and 14 others.

He is listed as a processioner of St. Paul's parish 1708/1743. In about 1753, Indian troubles caused him to dispose of his land there prior to the move to North Carolina, where he settled on Nutbush Creek. Records show he applied for bounty land for his services for the year 1758 in Colonel Byrd's Regiment, during the French and Indian Wars. This land was granted on Ellibies Creek in then Orange County, NC, which his will directed to be sold to pay debts of his estate. Richard Bullock died in Granville County, NC, in 1764. His will was dated Oct. 27, 1764, and proved the next month, mentions children Sarah Sims, Agnes Williams, Zacharia, William, John, Susanna Sims, Agatha Nichols, Nathaniel, and Leonard Hendley Bullock. Daughter Anna married to Henry Vandyck was deceased. Nathaniel was willed the land and plantation whereon Richard lived after his mother's death, as well as half the remaining estate, Leonard receiving the other half, after bequests to the other children. Witnesses to his will included Philemon Hawkins, whose daughter Fannie married his son Leonard Henley Bullock.
