My interest in genealogy began in the early 1990's. At that time I knew very little about the history of my family. Since then I have been able to trace many lines back several generations.

My CROSS family began in the states of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. I have been able to document with certainty the lineage of my Cross family to Nathan Cross. Nathan was born in 1766. Around 1800 Nathan Cross moved his family to the St. Armand, Quebec area from New Hampshire. It is probable that he went to Quebec with at least one of his brothers, James. My theory is that they came from the Northfield area of New Hampshire. There were two Cross families in Northfield at that time. One was the Stephen Cross family and the other was John Cross. I believe my ancestors to be from the John Cross and Phebe Parker family. I have listed them in my tree as such, but please note this is yet to be proven.

The research of Nathan Cross Sr. and his family is my own. The information beyond Nathan's parents (John Cross and Phebe Parker) is mostly from an ancestor file on the LDS web site and may not be completely accurate. I have not confirmed it.

Another main area of interest is the surname SCHMIDLIN. I have been able to trace with certainty my Schmidlin ancestry to a small town in south western Germany named Bischoffingen. It is located near the black forest. The emphasis in that town is wine production. My Schmidlin ancestors can be traced back to the 1600s in this town.
