Welcome to my webpage! This site is dedicated to the genealogy research I have done on the ancestors of my maternal grandparents. Little did I know when I decided to write down the things my grandmother told me about her family when I was fourteen years old that it would become this fantastic hobby (obsession...) and take me on a journey over two thousand years in time. I hope that you can find any information you are needing here. Feel free to e-mail me if you have questions or additions or if you are a long-lost relative!
I am especially interested in learning more about the Phillips and Province families who have lived in the Clay and Greene County areas of Arkansas since at least the mid-1800's.
Also, I have done research on my father's side of the family (Cross, Cupp, Davis, Jones, Linheart, Sellers, and several others) and my maternal grandmother's side (Wilson, Evett, Dunning, Duvall, Coffman, and a few others), but it got to be too much information for one sight. However, I have added my complete family tree on to the bottom, so check there for the rest of the information.
So, hello to all of you out there who share my fascination with family history. Good luck in your research!

Also note Icie Eastep Hampton; she will be mentioned in later photos.

- Louis D. Dortch (290 KB)
Louis D. Dortch was my great-great-great grandfather. He died in 1959, so this picture was probably taken in the mid 1950's.

My great-grandmother Irene Hampton is on the front row. Her brother Enos Hampton and sister Marie Hampton (Huckaby) are also in the picture.

- Ma and Pa Hampton (Wes and Annie) (159 KB)
William David Wesley Hampton and Letha Ann Dortch, also known and Wes and Annie and Ma and Pa. This is a first of a series of picture of them and their daughters. They were taken in 1936, probably at the corner of their son Enos's house. I have no picture of Enos and his wife Verneal; it might have been lost over the years. Ma and Pa are in their late 40's in this picture.
- William and Candice Province (6 KB)
My grandparents had this picture hanging in their living room when I was a child (They are my grandfather's great-grandparents). However, it was destroyed when their house burned in 1993. I blew this copy up from the background of another picture, so the quality is not great, but at least the picture isn't completely lost.

Willodene Hampton (age 16) in 1936. The picture was one of a round of family pictures taken next to her brother Enos's house.
