I am currently researching the following families: KERR, SUGGS, LANGFORD, HERNDON, NEWMAN, DARE & CURRAN, O'TOOLE, FARRELL, MARQUIS, PICARD. Of course, there are many additional surnames associated with these families; below are a few details to help:
1. My KERR line begins with John Kerr. I am descended from his son Andrew Kerr, Sr., born 1755. Andrew ended up in York County, SC, and married Katherine KILPATRICK. My line goes from SC to MS & TX. I also am researching the Suggs family which married into this line (Zenas D. Kerr m. Mary E. Suggs).
2. My oldest known LANGFORD is John W. Langford Jr. John was born in Georgia about 1818 and ended up in Mississippi. I am descended from John and his second wife Hester Ann Hall.
3. My HERNDON & NEWMAN lines begin in North Carolina with Catherine G. Collier & James Herndon, Jr. and Samuel Newman. Samuel moved to Alabama, where he married Sarah Sittdell. They later lived in Tennessee. Their children lived in Tennessee and Mississippi.
The Herndons also moved to Alabama, where James died. Squire Herndon, son of Catherine Herndon & Squire Harpole (born after James Herndon died), ended up in Mississippi.
4. My DARE progenitor is Henry C. Dare. His beginnings are unknown; he ended up in Mississippi. He married Lucinda Phillips.
5. The CURRANS & O'TOOLES came to The United States from County Galway, Ireland about 1883, landing in Boston. Mark Curran & Winnie O'Toole were married in St. Paul, Minnesota & moved to Washington State about 1889.
6. The families of FARRELL, MARQUIS and PICARD were all originally French-Canadian & can be traced back to some of the earliest settlers of "New France."
