James Harris Creighton

11/28/46 – 6/11/05

 

James “Jim” Creighton died Saturday 6/11/05 from heart failure.  He was born in Loudon,

 New Hampshire November 28, 1946, the son of John and Sylvia (Poore)  Creighton.

 

Jim and his wife Kathi have been married for 10 years and lived a quiet life in Dewey, Arizona where they found much happiness together.  He spent nearly 30 years in the architectural field as a landscape and architectural designer, with 2 design projects taking National awards.  After a 10 year stint in the reprographics field and managing a blueprint shop, he was once again doing architectural work as a Cad Drafter at Arizona Blueprint in Prescott Valley.

 

Jim had many talents and used his free time to continue doing Indian related art.  His screen name “Eaglepipe” was synonymous with his artwork.  He was adopted into the Omaha tribe of Macy, Nebraska in 1972.  Among some of Jims Indian works was a feather bustle he made for a 9 year old boy, he had started making his own 17th century Penacook outfit, did beautiful beadwork and paintings as well as marketing hand sewn traditional tipis.  Jim spent many years, along with the help of his sister Susan, researching and writing about their ancestry and published 2 books, one for each side of his family.

 

Jim is survived by his wife Kathryn May Creighton, his mother Sylvia Susan (Poore) Creighton-Horgan who turned 98 years old in April, two daughters Buffy Lynn and Lisa Jill, one Grandson Christopher Michael (with another grandchild due in a couple of months), six older siblings:  John Leonard Creighton, Jr., Virginia (Creighton) Horgan, Daniel Lyle Creighton, Beatrice May (Creighton) Nadeau, Perley Glen Creighton and Benjamin Harry Creighton; one younger sibling:  Susan Lorena (Creighton) Curtiss.  He also leaves 19 nieces and nephews and 28 grand nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. at Fain Park in Prescott Valley, Arizona.  (2200 North 5th Street)
