This site contains most of the entries from Dr. Benjamin Cutter's book on the Cutters in New England. I have also added much new information from more current GEDCOM's from around the United States and from the internet. I also have been researching the Cutter families that have lived in Westbrook and allied families like Elwell, Merrick, Smith, Whitney, Christie, Briggs, Porter. I am interested in any releations that have lived in Westbrook at any time. Please feel free to e-mail me at dcutter1@gwi.com.

I also am interested in any other information that anyone has on any relations to Samuel Cutter and Elizabeth (Leatherhead) Cutter and their decendents.

SAMUEL CUTTER was born 1575 in New-Castle-Upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England, and died Bef. April 08, 1637 in New-Castle-Upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England. He married ELIZABETH LEATHERHEAD Abt. 1616 in Possibly Balam Church, Sandyford Bridge (Or Bolam),. She was born in New-Castle-Upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England, and died January 10, 1663/64 in Cambridge, Mass. Bay, Middlesex, MS.

New things of note are:

I have linked up Ann Morrow, Charles A. Lindbergh's wife through her mother Elizabeth Cutter (Charles Long Cutter, Abilene Davis Cutter, Benjamin Cutter, John Cutter Jr, John Cutter, Ephriam Cutter, Richard Cutter, Samuel Cutter).

I've added new Biographical information on Ann and her husband.
I still need more information on their children and dates. If anyone has them please send them on to me, with much thanks.

Westbrook History:

Abiel Cutter (AMMI(5), JOHN(4), WILLIAM(3), RICHARD(2), SAMUEL(1) ) was born August 27, 1794 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He married Dorcas Elwell and is the ancestor of all current Cutters who live in Westbrook, I have seperated him and his decendents to make it quicker for anyone who is just interested in this area only.

Col. Simon Cutter was one of the first Cutter's to live in Westbrook. He moved to Westbrook around 1807 and started a family here. At a later time other of his brother's followed him to Westbrook, and most of them engaged in some type of lumber manufactoring. He and most of his family are buried in the Saccarappa Cemetery across the pond from where I live. He was a Mason as many of the Cutter's who lived in Westbrook were. His gravestone has a large Mason symbol on it and there are also other family members of his buried in a Masons plot in a area near the main entrance. Of more interest to the Cutters living presently in Westbrook is the location of Harriet "Hattie" (Elwell) Cutter the Great-Grand Mother of all present day Cutters living in Westbrook. She is buried with her parents further in the Saccarappa Cemetery and her name appears on the side of the stone with her perents on the front. There is also a stone for her marked Mother and two for here parents marked Mother and Father.

Other family members that have lived in Westbrook are buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery by the High School.

I've added many new notes and obituary information from our family, and other notices I have found on the Internet.
I will be adding much of the information from Dr Benjamin Cutter's 1870's book as I scan it and enter it into my database.
