G'day from Down Under (Australia for the un-initiated !)

Most of us know about our family tree. But when you start to become interested in documenting it, you discover what a much bigger task it becomes. We are pretty excited about Broderbund's Family Tree Maker (FTM) software helping us do this. It's pretty surprising how powerful and full featured it is. That's not to say that it doesn't have some niggling problems, but having tried to document our family tree using plain computer files, it really makes it easy!

The other aspect of how big you discover the project to be is joining two of what you thought were large families (husband's and wife's) you realise that there really is a multiplication effect. Not only do you have the two immediate families of husband and wife, but then you have the mothers' families and the grandmothers' families. After our 1st month using FTM we had over 700 HUNDRED names in it. While there still "gaps" and a lot more info about each to add, we were interested in getting it published on the web.

Why ? Because a growing number of our family members have access and use the internet, mainly for e-mail, but more so for web surfing.

Well, on with the show here. If we don't finish this text we will never get anything published on the Family Tree Maker Users pages.

Oh, by the way, some of the main surnames we are researching are Czarnik, Neszala & Cierpial, and Wade, Morey & Stinton. The first three all originate from Poland with many of the last 2-3 generations living in the USA. The next 3 originate from the UK but many of the last generations are from Western Australia.

And last, we are living in Sydney Australia (Pennant Hills is a suburb of Sydney). Look forward to hearing from you.

Larry & Colleen

P.S. 18 Feb, 2000 -

Well it has been some time since we updated our FamilyTreeMaker site - Christmas 1998 to be precise. Check the update register below for the date of our latest reports. But more importantly have a good look at this page. Thanks to some expansion of the FTM home page offering there is a lot more here now -

-->o GEDCOM trees - we choose not to use this because we think the InterneTree is a much better way to view our family tree. (Check out the InterneTree link in the FTM trees, books and reports section below)

-->o Photos - We only have one here now because we have most in two other places. Check out the Related Links section below.

-->o FTM Trees, Reports and Books - This is where the traditional FTM stuff goes. We have a comprehensive book and some basic outlines. Check out the InternetTree, as you can wander around the family tree as if it were on one big piece of paper !

-->o Related Files - We can upload any kind of file here. When we find some appropriate to the family tree ...

-->o Related Links - This is the section we really wanted to see. Since we have a number of other sites covering a number of other aspects of our family (photos and such) we put the links to them here. Check out the one called MyFamily.Com since not only does it have photos, but a interactive calendar for all the family's birthdays. Most of the family already has access, but if you don't just drop us an e-mail - czarnik@compuserve.com

Phew ! Hope you enjoy it all. We do. There are almost 1500 related individuals in our Family Tree file now. It's fun keeping it up to date. But even more fun when you contact us with more or up to date info. Thanks in advance.
