I am a new researcher as of 2007 and am researching both sides of my parents family.

My father was Niels Christian Nielsen born Jan 13, 1903 Saunte Denmark.
My mother was Carla Lorensen born April 19, 1929 Visby Denmark.
This is ongoing research.

The results as of today have been outstanding, I have made contact with cousins on both sides and will be making a trip in October 2007 to meet them.

Hello Denmark, this is Canada calling!

Update

I have now returned from my trip and it was wonderful. Words cannot express the feelings I had upon meeting my relatives. My overpowering awe when seeing the buildings, places and ageless history of Denmark was deep and profound. I am a descendant of a country so very rich in history, a country that has played such an intrigal part in the shaping of the whole world. I was proud before to say that my blood was Danish, but the feeling of pride has expanded immensely after meeting my family and seeing Denmark.
The quest is not complete though, I still am searching for my mother's sisters, I do not know where they are, if they are still alive, if they had children. I am also still researching my roots, expanding the family tree.

Update July 20th, 2008

I now have made contact with my Mother's oldest sister and am in the process of making contact with my Mother's younger sister. I have recieved so much help from Denmark. The people I have written and spoken to in Denmark are immensely helpful.I have always known that family features can be passed down and even skip generations, my younger brother looks exactly like our maternal grandfather, the resemblance is uncanny!

Now I have even more reason to once more return to Denmark.
It's funny, they say that you can feel your body being tugged towards a certain place, and it is true,I had felt the tug before I went to Denmark and since my return the pull to go back has become stronger every day.
