My mother and I recently attended the Hysert reunion in Abingdon (Caistor community centre) on June 5th of 2004. My mother is Lorna Geniveve (Hysert) Brady, the daughter of Charles Arthur Hysert and Mary Elizabeth Muir, (the daughter of Thomas Muir and Victoria Cowell). Charlie Hysert was the son of Francis Henry Hysert and Elmira Sara Shaver. Much of what I found on the Hysert's is the work of Shelly (Hysert) Cutting, and Lynne Buck. The information I recently found on the Shaver family if the work of Joyce Hull (a second cousin once removed who I had never even heard of), and several other family tree's, as well as some census information. Much of my information on the Muirs came from Shelly Cutting, my aunt Vonnie Sipos, and the World Family Tree of Andrew Muir. Andy was the younger brother of James M. Muir (married Elizabeth Graham), sons of John Muir (1716) and Agnes Elder. James's son George who married Barbara Douglas, the daughter of James Douglas, was an emmigrant to Canada in 1821 along with Jim Douglas who accompanied them to Canada. They came with eight children who were born in West Calder, Scotland. Thomas Muir was born in 1822 in Canada, the first of two children born in Canada. Marion Muir was born in Canada also, about 1826. Thomas Muir is my great grandfather. The Andrew Muir family tree tracks the male line back as far as William Muir, born in 1685, the father of John Muir (1716), who married Agnes Elder the daughter of Robert Elder and Rachel Simpson. James M Muir was their son born in 1743. He married Elizabeth Graham. Andrew Muir was born 20 years later in 1763. There must be more siblings. My Aunt Vonnie Sipos says we were decended from a William Muir who married a Janet Russell around the turn of the 17th century or 1600. I am looking for information on that line. Also I am just learning the magnitude of the large line of Shaver's we are related to through Elmira Sara Shaver, Frank Hysert's wife who became mentally unstable, and was institutionalized in the Barton insane asylum in Hamilton. The Hysert family was cut off from their Shaver relatives and consequently do not know them or even of them. I am decended through Jacob Frederich Schaeffer who emigrated from Rhineland Germany with his brother Wilhelm in late September of 1763. They sailed on the ship Betsy, from Rotterdam Holland to Philadelphia, Pennslyvania. He was naturalized with his brother Peter who had also come over from Rhineland Germany in 1865. Jacob Frederich Schaeffer took the name Frederick Shaver. Johan Petrus Schaeffer became Peter Shaver. Peter had come over in 1765 with Wilhelm and Katerinka Schaeffer and Wilhelm Johan Schaeffer their son and his wife Katerinka on the Ship Betsy from Rotterdam Holland. A Michael Shaver was naturalized at the same time as Fred and Peter. Not sure where he fits into the family. Katerinka Schaeffer is buried in Marksboro Cemetery in Sussex County, New Jersey. There are questions, but I believe both Wilhelm and Katerinka are buried there. They arrived in 1765 and Wilhelm died in 1767. Katerinka lived to 1776 before she passed away. Fred Shaver married Elizabeth Triller daughter of William Triller/Driller and Maria whose maidenname I do not know. The Triller/Trimmer family is another story, and William seems to be one of the few Trillers who retained the name, as most became Trimmer. Johannes Triller emigrated to America in 1738 and when he was naturalized with his eldest son Tyce or Mathias, Johannes became John Trimmer and Matthias became Mathias or Tyce Trimmer.
Mary Catherine Dierdorf was Johannes's wife, but she died at sea on the voyage to America. This information is available on Rootsweb.com/ and there are several files, some of whom are somewhat confused, not knowing about Mary Catherine dying at sea.
John remarried and had a second family. He passed on in 1749, shortly after marrying for the third time. One of the Trimmer brothers would have a descendan
