I am in the process of authenticating information and have traced the family back to the early 1800's. Other surnames connected are Gastma, Looyinga, Zwart, Kloosterman, Westra, Sekema, Loonstra, Kooi, Jakes, Klock, Wadman, Broerma, Kock, Van der Zee, Van der Meulen, Visser, Liezinga, Van der Bij, Hooghiemstra, Smidt, Tigchelaar(Tichelaar), Sinnema, Van der Geest, Elsinga, Paulusma, De Lang, Wiglema, Ruurds, De Jong.The Buchanans have been traced from Argyllshire, Scotland about 1790 - John Buchanan to Lambton County, Ontario, Canada present day.

Watson (back to Archie Watson, Cambelltown, Scotland, approx 1770 to present day Ontario)
Evans - present day - Lambton County to Wales in early 1800
McMillan - Scotland to Canada
Brand to David Brand - 1806, Scotland to present day Canada
Greenhough - England to Canada
Jennings - possibly England
