| The Dahm (originally Dam) side of the family originated in Friesland, Netherlands, immigrating to Canada in 1950. I am in the process of authenticating information and have traced the family back to the early 1800's. Other surnames connected are Gastma, Looyinga, Zwart, Kloosterman, Westra, Sekema, Loonstra, Kooi, Jakes, Klock, Wadman, Broerma, Kock, Van der Zee, Van der Meulen, Visser, Liezinga, Van der Bij, Hooghiemstra, Smidt, Tigchelaar(Tichelaar), Sinnema, Van der Geest, Elsinga, Paulusma, De Lang, Wiglema, Ruurds, De Jong.The Buchanans have been traced from Argyllshire, Scotland about 1790 - John Buchanan to Lambton County, Ontario, Canada present day. Other families being traced are: Watson (back to Archie Watson, Cambelltown, Scotland, approx 1770 to present day Ontario) Evans - present day - Lambton County to Wales in early 1800 Smith, McMillan - Scotland to Canada Brand to David Brand - 1806, Scotland to present day Canada Greenhough - England to Canada Jennings - possibly England I would be glad to share any information I have and would be pleased to hear from anyone who may be connected. |
