Notes for John Frederic Tone:
Kenneth Edward Tone, J.D., Tone Family, (Gateway Press, Inc., Baltimore, 1978), p. 81-83:

John Frederic Tone was a Hession Trooper. He was snatched off the street in his native Hesse or Hesse-Cassel, Germany and brought to this country against his will, to fight with the English against the Patriots in the Revolutionary War. He later deserted and joined the American forces and was severely wounded in both the battles of Kingsbridge and Yorktown. After the war he settled in Plainfield, New Hampshire where he resided until he enlisted as a soldier in the War of 1812. After that war he returned to Plainfield, New Hampshire where he lived out his remaining years with his family.

b. 1750 or 1752 probably in Hesse or Hesse-Cassel, Germany
com. On his Revolutionary War Pension Application which he signed in 1818 he stated that he was 66 years old which would indicate that he was born in 1752. However, his grave marker in the East Plainfield, New Hampshire Cemetery show no year of birth but reads that he died "July 6th, 1830, ag 80" which indicates he was born in 1750.
