Valeria May Whipkey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Whipkey, died at Presbo, S. D., Saturday morning as a result of blood poisoning. The remains arrived in Rock Rapids Monday morning and were taken to the home of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Whipkey, from where the funeral was held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock by Reb. Mrs. Huntley. There was a number in attendance at the funeral and all sympathize deeply with the parents in the loss of their child. At the time of her death the little lady was visiting with Mrs. Edward ...ner near Presbo, S. D. Sunday previous to her death, the little girl stepped on a rusty nail, which penetrated the ball of her foot. The wound was treated with simple home remedies and seemed to be doing nicely until Tuesday, when it began to bother some and the child was taken to Presbo and placed under the care of a physician. Everything possible was done to bring about a recovery, but the insiduous poison had fastened itself firmly and could not be eradicated. Jesse Whipkey, father, is in Alaska.
