OCEANSIDE Burl "Red" Menor, 86, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Kaiser Hospital Mt. Zion.

Born Feb. 13, 1915, in Abilene, Kan., he lived in Oceanside for 16 years. He was a machinist at EMSCO. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. He was a member of Carlsbad Community Church and couples group. He enjoyed auto racing, baseball and gardening.

Mr. Menor is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eleanor Menor of Oceanside; son Michael Menor of Upland, daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Norman Turner; grandchildren Nathan, Michael and Brian; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Carlsbad Community Church, 3175 Harding St. in Carlsbad with the Rev. R. Maxwell Vague officiating. Inurnment will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Riverside National Cemetery with Norman Goodwin officiating.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 2655 Camino Del Rio North, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92108.

Poway Bernardo Mortuary is handling arrangements.
