Notes for Amos Bemis:
There is some confusion about the parents of Edwin P. and William Otis Bemis. [Draper:109] concludes that Amos Bemis was married 1st to an unnamed woman. He then states that he m. 2d, June 28, 1830 Huldah (b. Spencer May 22, 1793.) dau. of Ezekial Tucker. (b. Leicester, Mass. Aug. 29, 1757. d. Jan. 29, 1814.) and his 2d wife, Elizabeth Phelps of Brookfield. However, [VR:Spencer:133] show the date as June 28, 1820. Also, [VR:Spencer:16] shows the birth of Edwin as "BEMIS - Edwin P., s. Amos and Huldah, March 26, 1815. At Paxton." and [VR:Spencer:19] shows the birth of William Otis as "BEMIS - William Otis, s. Amos and Huldah, Jan. 1, 1819. At Leicester."
