**Found the following text describing his character:
As a citizen and neighbor he was very generous, kind and obliging. He was a thorough farmer and quite a mechanic. Whatever he did was done on the principle that "whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well". He united early in life with the Methodist church, then in Wardwell Settlement, but afterward removed to Belleville and lived a consistant Christian life until his death. He was a strong advocate of Christian union and fellowship, believing that all true Christians should worship and commune together with brotherly love. He was one of the founders of the Union Church at Pierpont Manor, giving liberally toward its errection and support. In his last sickness he was a great sufferer having a disease of the heart, but during all his suffering his mind seemed full of love of his Savior beseeching those who cared for him whe were without a Christian hope, to seek Jesus. At times when his sufferings seemed almost unbearable he would raise his voice in prayer and ask God to relieve him from his pain in consistant to His will, and almost the last words he uttered was to sing a verse of a hymn which was a great favorite of his.

Strengthen my arm of faith Stay near me while my way worn feet Press through the stream of death.
In the last few days of his life he was delirious most of the time, and for a few hours before his death did not seem to realize his suffering and passed quietly away. His funeral was held from his late residence on Friday, the 26th where a large concourse of relatives and friends assembled, The Rev. G.E.Farr of the Adams Baptist Church and the Rev. Dr. John Muir of Zion Church, Pierpont Manor conducting the services. Rev. Farr preached an able discourse taking his text from Numbers 23:10.
"Let me die the death of the righteous and let my last end be like his". Rev. Muir read the solemn and impressive burial service of the Episcopal Church at the grave. He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery at Adams, New York. Surely Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord; even so saith the spirit, for they rest from their labors.
