Death of Charles W. Bemis, a Well-Known Waltham builder.

WALTHAM, Sept. 30 - Charles W. Bemis, one of the city's best known citizens, died this afternoon at his home on Main st, after a long illness.
Mr. Bemis had been a resident of this place for more than half a century. He was a builder by occupation and he amassed quite a fortune.
He was born in Weston, May 15, 1811. A widow and three daughters survive him. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

No other information given. They lived in Weston and had 1)Emery Leman Bemis, 2)Eliza Leman Bemis, 3)Isadora Ophelia Bemis,4)John Leman Bemis, and 5)George Homer Bemis.

Eliza (LEMAN) BEMIS died of consumption 7 Mar 1861 in Weston Massachusetts Age 54 years, 1 mo., 26 days. Copy of Death rec. gives her birthplace as Boston, Massachusetts, and her parents as John Lemen birthpl. No. Reading and Elizabeth [no surname] birthplace North Chelsea.

Boston Marriages City Document #101 pg 92. gives a John Lemon and Elizabeth Tukesbury m. 7 Jun 1798. Their intentions read (Leeman) (Tewsbury). Big Question. Is this John and Elizabeth the parents of Eliza who married Eli Emery Bemis?

Eli Emery Bemis, married secondly, a widow, Eliza Simon Tewksbury. He was 46 and she 33. She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts to Abijah and Hannah Tewksbury.

As Eli E. Bemis's 2nd w. was a Tewksbury, it seems possible that his 1st wife Eliza Leman's mother Elizabeth might also be Tewksbury. Can any one proove or disproove that the John Leman and Elizabeth Tewksbury who were m. in Boston, were the parents of Eliza Leman who m. Eli Emery Bemis and lived in Weston Massachusetts?
