Just came upon your Ancestry.com listing for Alvin H. Bemis. And surprise! Add another marriage: Elizabeth Hellar Toms, born 1840; died 8 October 1926, Minnehaha County, South Dakota. But also listed is the death date in Minnehaha County, Dell Rapids, South Dakota, 24 May 1910, for Alvin H. Bemis who was born 2 September 1837. I have a copy of his will and probate papers from South Dakota. He is buried in Dell Rapids Cemetery. I don't know who the Alvin Bemis is that died at a different time and is buried in Iowa. The will of Alvin H. Bemis lists all his children and they are the same names as listed in your record. He and Elizabeth didn't have any children. I think Alvin and Elizabeth were married sometime before 1889. Her father's will named her as Elizabeth Bemis and gave a South Dakota address. Will be glad to exchange info. Mary in St. Louis.
