Comments on family of Charles Bemis-- The first wife of Charles, Harriet Fay, d. Oct. 2, 1849, according to
the "Greenwood Genealogies". Charles remarried and we find him with 2nd wife, Mary Severance in the
1850 Census in Windham, and with three of the children with first wife Harriet Fay. Also in the 1850 Census
in Windham, just five houses away, we find Reuen Fay and wife Hepsibeth with Reuben Bemis, age 11, b. VT,
and Mary E. Bemis, age 7, b. VT. I believe that Reuben and Hepsibeth are the parents of Harriet Fay, first
wife of Charles Bemis, and that both Reuben and Mary E. Bemis are also children of Charles and Harriet and
they are living with their grandparents in Windham. Charles and 2nd wife Mary Severence have three
children born to them in the period 1850-1860.
