BEMIS, Charles - Charley BEMIS, a rancher from on Salt Creek near Eagle, died in the sanitarium in Glenwood Springs last Monday morning after an illness with pneumonia of but a few days. Mr. BEMIS had contracted pneumonia while doing his ranch work a few days before his death, and his condition had rapidly become so serious that he had been removed to the hospital last Friday where he could get the best of care. His condition, however, continued to get worse until his death.
The remains were brought home Tuesday evening and the funeral held Wednesday afternoon. The remains were followed to the cemetery by a large number of friends and neighbors, where a short service was held by Rev. J. F. GAITHER of the Methodist church, and a song sung by the mixed quartet.

The deceased was born fifty-four years ago in northeastern Kansas, coming to Colorado in 1892. He was a teamster by trade, and followed this business for number of years, coming to Eagle county from Marble fifteen or sixteen years ago, and sometime after bought the little ranch where he lived with his family at the time of his death. He was married while living at Marble, and to this union was born one child a daughter, who together with the widow, survive the death of the husband and father. His passing is regretted by a large number of friends who knew him as a good and accommodating neighbor.[4 May 1923, Eagle Valley Enterprise, p1]

Hope you can make heads and tails of the above info as my emails don't always send in the same format that I set them up in, like spaces, indentions, paragraphs, etc. There's still some info to get form Uncle Richard and about Aunt Donna's kids when my cousin Jennifer has time. Most of the above people I know already as I had gotten the chance to somewhat grow up around them. But even all my family says that Grandpa is a dead dropoff. It is believed that he didn't have a birth certificate. And the place of his birth is still unknown due to not being listed the same on all of his kids' birth certificates. Uncle Richard is running into the problem of finding out where grandpa was born in order to get his own birth certificate for SS retirement benifit purposes. Oh, before I forget, Uncle Allan verified that the Theo Wells you found in Allodium,Ks is prob the right one. I think that's all I have to offer for now. Jennifer will be sending me Grandma and Grandpa and Dad's
obituaries soon and hopefully I can get more info from them. Well, if you have any questions, feel free to holler at me.
