      4103. Rufus Francis8 Bemis (George Francis7, Augustus Frederick6, Jonathan5, David4, Jonathan3, John2, Joseph1)17466 was born 10 Oct 1860 in Lawrenceburg, IN17466. He married Mary Marie Shuck.

Children of Rufus Bemis and Mary Shuck are:
  5602 i.   Estella9 Bemis, born 1888.
  Notes for Estella Bemis:
Aunt Stella worked in a shoe factory in Cincinnati and never married. She lived with her mother, Mary Marie Shuck Bemis, in Ludlow, Ky. I attended her funeral, and remember that her long, beautiful, black hair was cut short, like a man's. She was only 56, but had been put into an "old folks home" before her death

5603 ii.   Edward Robert Bemis, born 1897.
  Notes for Edward Robert Bemis:
Grandpa Bemis was a 'Buyer' for the Fairstore, a Cincinnati department store before the Great Depression, but was moved to a warehouse so a company executive's family member could have his job after the 1929 "crash". He was in 'photo interpretation" during WW II, and was offered a good job at Eastman Kodak, but he developed glaucoma and couldn't see, and that ended that.
