Notes for ANTOINE ANTHONY JIMMY "TONY" GARBALDI:

1910 census of Terrebonne Parsih, Houma, Ward 3, Precinct 2; date May 9, 1910; fam. #769

Antoinie Garabot, age 28, and his wife, Corine, 24, were married for 8 years at census.  They had given birth to 3 children and 2 still lived.  He worked as a fisherman.  Children were:  Mildy, a dau. of 8;  and Della, a dau. of 6.

Also living in this home was Mary White, mother in law to Antoinie, a widow of age 60.  She had 7 children and  and 4 were still living.  Also, John Garabot, brother of Antoinie, age 29, single, works as a fisherman and Joe Garabot, brother of Antoinie, age 17, single and working as a fisherman.  Everyone in this home speaks English and they and their parents were born in Louisiana.

Conflicting information:  See note of Antoine's mother and it says in 1910 she was living as a boarder in some else's home, listed as Mrs Antoine Garibotte.   So who is Mary White of above census if she is not Antoine's mother in law, as census stated.

email from Joseph's granddaughter, Mary Callahan Rushing Oct. 2000

Thank you for the notes you forwarded to me.  I recognize some of the names

mentioned, it definately is a start anyway.  I'm pretty sure my grandfather's

name was Joseph, I remember my mother calling him "Joe" in reference to him.

In answer to your questions, I'll do my best.

I know my grandfather passed away, I'm not sure when - I heard that it was

around 1955 or so (although I tried tracking an obit from the newspaper

through the library but it turned up no obit). I never knew if he had

remarried after my grandmother Lillie passed away.  It is possible since the

newspaper article regarding her murder stated that they were separated for

about 8 years prior to her death. My aunt Emily was married to Eusebe

Clement( a barber) not sure of the date and I heard of a stillborn son or he

passed away shortly after birth, no other children. When she passed away in

1967 I don't know if Mr. Clement was still living or not.

My uncle Ronald is still living in Dulac and he was married to Emily

Gregoire, she passed away in 1997. I don't believe they had any children

together, though she had several children from a previous marriage.

My facts are so few and far between unfortunately.  I wish I had more

information to share and if I come across any I'll gladly pass it on to you.

Thank you again for being so helpful, it is greatly appreciated.  Talk to you

soon.

Take care also.

email from Mary Oct. 2000

Cynthia,

Thank you so much for the lead. I have been able to get a lot of information from the leads you gave me. I do have some of my

immediate family info. Here it is:

My brother Gerald was born May 14, 1944 died Sept 30, 1980

Donald born May 19, 1955 still living (not married)

Myself birthday March 16, 1961 married to Jeffrey Rushing April 18, 1992 (no children).

I have been unable to locate any records on my sister Barbara (first born) I think she died at 2 wks of age around

1942 or so. I would appreciate any notes on Garribot you have. I would be grateful to get them. It has been very hard getting

any info past my great grandfather Antoine Garribot.I wish I could find his ancestors.

Thank you for all your help.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Mary

P.S. My aunt Emily Garribot died in Oct 1967. Roland is still living.

Feel free to add any of the above info to your notes.
