I started researching my family tree about a year ago in 2005 starting with the Dale family line which I discovered to be rooted in the Ipswich area for as many generations as I could find. Living in Ipswich made the research relatively easy and before long I had compiled a seven generation tree dating back to the late 1700's. Although I was concentrating my efforts on the Dale side of the family, my research soon led me down many different routes leading to a family tree of over four hundred individuals with one hundred surnames spanning nine generations. After spending so much time building the tree, I decided to start to reserch more about the individuals, trying to create a story for each family member. This proved very difficult, but with the help of old photographs, the census records as well as all of the information received from my parents, I have been able to compile a Dale family history which has unearthed all sorts of surprises as well as interesting facts. I have produced a forty two page album of photos, facts and stories of the Dale family from 1795 to the present day, which I hope will be the first of many albums in my family collection. It is not fully comprehensive but I hope to add to it over the years as I do more and more research. Now I will be moving on to my mother's family and starting a new path in my research, who knows where this will lead. |
