The Robert Bledsoe Family Home Page

This is the home page for the children of Robert C. Bledsoe and their descendants. The Bledsoes historically have had large families, and beginning with George Bledsoe, who arrived in Virginia in 1652, the tribe has increased with each generation. The Bledsoes were among the earliest pioneers moving westward into the frontier lands, exploring new territory and seeking land. They built forts, settled new territory, taught, preached, started schools, and fought in all U.S. wars. Twelve generations later, we also carry the rich lineage of other early pioneer families from the women that the Bledsoe men married. Many were members of other Longhunter families, and some were other early arrivals in this country. Our mother, Pauline V. Schoner, was the descendant of German-speaking immigrants from Alsace, Lorraine, near Batchdorf, France. Arriving in New York on a sailing ship after an ocean voyage of 40 days, they sailed up the Hudson River to Albany, then took the Erie Canal to Erie, Pennsylvania, crossed Lake Erie to Cleveland, and traveled down the Cleveland/Portsmouth Canal to Akron. The Henry Schoner family settled in Stark County, Ohio, in 1848. This site will tell some of their stories and unique history.
