1. JOHN¹ KRAMER was born 1828 in Hanover, Germany, and died 1886 in Allegheny Township, Pennsylvania. He married CATHERINE LOBAUGH Abt. 1850 in America, daughter of PETER LOBAUGH and ELIZABETH UNKNOWN. She was born 1833 in Hesse Darnstadt, Germany, and died November 11, 1899 in Allegheny Township, Pennsylvania.

Notes for JOHN KRAMER:
In Germany, the word is spelled Kramer. (umlaut over the a - a) If you were to transcribe it in English, it would be Kraemer. It means "shopkeeper." The following are notes from Gary Anderson garya@asrv.com " John was a saltboiler in Pennsylvania. They came to America in the late 1840's and I would guess that John and Catherine didn't marry until they were living in the U.S. I know they are listed as married in the 1850 census. In the 1850 census they were living in East Deer Twy, Allegheny Co. and they had no children. Living right beside them were Catherine's parents Peter and Elizabeth Lobaugh. In 1860 John and Catherine were still in the same place but her parents had moved somewhere else and Gary could not find them. I found John and Catherine and their children in the 1870 and 1880 census in Westmoreland County, Allegheny Township. In 1990 the census burned and in 1900 John and Catherine were both deceased and it is believed after 1870 the children dropped the German K and changed to the Americanized C, with the exception of Francis (Frank). He is showing on the 1900 census, Allegheny Co, Allegheny City, as Frank Kramer

Notes for CATHERINE LOBAUGH:
In Catherine Lobaugh Cramer's will, she gave the 4 oldest children $1.00 a piece; Maggie (Margaret ) got the sewing machine, Franacis (Frank) got a sorrel horse, and Mary got a cow. Everything else from what I could surmise went to Annie. (this info from Gary Anderson garya@isrv.com
