The branch of the family I'm researching is from Shropshire, though other branches of the family are from Gloucestershire and also Birmingham. Records for Shropshire go back to around 1690, but so far I am unable to link the families together. Before about 1800 they seemed to have been in the textile industry as weavers and mill operators in Gloucester about 1750.
