Michael Dalton Family Roots

Michael Dalton, was became a farmer when he lived in Minnesota. Michael was born in Ireland, in August 1845, and lost his father when he was three years old. Five years later he came to live in Ontario, Canada, then he became an orphan and then he moved to Pennsylvania. He worked in the mines and woods in McKean and Elk Counties one year, and was then employed for five years in Minnesota. Next he followed he followed farming for six years in the Red River Valley. In December 1878 he came to Michigan and bought 160 acres on section 13 which was partly improved, in Vernon Township, Isabella County, Clare,Michigan.
Michael married Miss Catherine Purkill on January 7, 1874. Catherine was born on March 1856 in Ontario, Canada. Michael and her had five children.

James E. B: January 29, 1877 in Minnesota
Frank David B: June 4, 1879 Vernon Township, Isabella County, Clare, Michigan
Edwin M. B: November 22, 1883 Vernon Township, Isabella County, Clare, Michigan.
Michael Dalton was a Republican and was the schools treasurer. Michael and Catherine were Catholics.
