The John McConaghy Family of Philadelphia, PA

John McConaghy was born October 15,1845 in Co. Antrim, Ireland and died January 12, 1914 in Swarthmore, PA. He came to this country with his brothers Thomas and James, along with William's 3 sons, Alexander, Moore and William. The McConaghy family members became Building Contractors in the Philadelphia area. They were the sons of Alexander McConaghie of Magherintendry and Jane Chestnut of Antrim, Ireland. Alexander and Jane Chestnut McConaghie died, within the week of each other, in July, 1881 and are buried in the Mosside Churchyard in Ireland. Their son John McConaghy and his wives Elizabeth Fulton McConaghy and Susie Stewart McConaghy are buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA.

John married Elizabeth Fulton about 1871. She was born 1852 in Ireland and died 1883 in Pennsylvania. He married Susan Stewart, daughter of William Stewart and Mary Eliza Little, on July 28, 1887. She was born 1855 in Pennsylvania and died February 24, 1918 in Norristown, PA.

My grandfather David Fulton McConaghy was born December 23, 1879 in Philadelphia, PA and died in 1961. He married Margaret V. Gasslein, daughter of John Gasslein and Harriet McDonough, in 1904. She was born February 1884 in Philadelphia, PA. and died September 1960 in Philadelphia, PA.

John David McConaghy born February 22, 1905 in Philadelphia, PA and died August, 1971 in San Diego, CA. He married Mary A. Greene, daughter of John F. Greene and Anna McKay, on July 22, 1933. She was born June 26, 1908 in Philadelphia, PA. and died February 17,1985 in Delran, NJ.
