While we can trace our family from John Hog of the Cannongate Edinburgh (b1724) the primary aim of this work is to trace all decendants of John Hogg (b 1838 in Auchterderran in Fife)and Janet Robb (b1838 in Kincardine). At least three branches of the family extend to South Africa, following emigration in the late 1800's, and a number of other later branches are traced to four locations across Canada.

Once the primary aim is complete I shall make a start on tracing the earlier generations.

Funnily enough, although our part of the Hogg family can be traced back to Edinburgh in 1724, and the later move to Achterderran is fairly well established, there appears to be NO CONNECTION with the Hoggs south of Edinburgh around whom most research has so far been centered.
