DALTON and PHIPPS move from Tennessee to Indiana

The DALTON and PHIPPS settlers of Clay County, Indiana, supposedly came from the Clinch River area of Knox County, Tennessee. By 1820 my GGG Grandparents John DALTON and Jenny PHIPPS had settled in Washington County, Indiana. John DALTON and his neighbor, Benjamin PHIPPS, moved together across Washington and Lawrence Counties of Indiana and both ended up in Clay County, Indiana. My GG Grandparents, William Arron DALTON and Rebecca OWEN, moved to Barry County, Missouri in the 1870's.

Their son (my GG Grandfather), Thompson Henry WOOD married Eliza MARTIN some time after arriving in Arkansas.

George Sr. WOLFE, my GGGG Grandfather was born 1765 and died 1839 probably in Hawkins County, Tennessee. He married Mary Polly ???. They had thirteen children all born between 1793 and 1813 in Tennessee (probably Hawkins County). Susannah WOLFE, their ninth child, married William MARTIN (my GGG Grandfather) about 1828 in Hawkins County, Tennessee.

William MARTIN was born March 18, 1810 in Tennessee. He married Susannah WOLFE. Their first child, Margaret born August 14, 1829 in Hawkins County, Tennessee married John BUTTRY 1850 in Hawkins County, Tennessee. William MARTIN, his brother Pascal MARTIN, and John BUTTRY, migrated with their families to Pea Ridge, Arkansas probably in the Spring of 1851. Thomas HALL (my GGG Grandfather) was born 1815 in Kentucky and died 1892 in Benton County, Arkansas. He married Sara ??? who was born 1814 in Kentucky and died 1892 in Benton County, Arkansas. Charlotte HALL (their only known child) was born in 1844 in Indiana. She married Henry HARRIS b. 1840 in Indiana. They had three children 1864-1870 in Indiana and a fourth child in 1880 in Arkansas. Henry HARRIS’s father was born in Ohio and his mother was born in North Carolina. Thomas HALL and Henry HARRIS families moved to Benton County, Arkansas sometime between 1870 and 1880.

David CARNES move from Illinois to Missouri
David Jesse CARNES (my GG Grandfather) with wife Rachel Ann ALLEN moved from Sessor, Illinois and ended up in Springdale, Arkansas by July 1888. By about 1906 they were living in Mountain, Missouri about 12 miles West of Washburn. Sometime prior to July, 1910 they had moved to Mulberry, Kansas. The 1920 census for Sugar Creek, Benton County, Arkansas shows David living with his son, John. David moved back to Sessor, Illinois shortly after 1920.
