      The Story farm, formerly owned by a Mr. Sheehan, was near Denton, Missouri, in Pemiscot County, MO. The area is variously known as Covington Community, Cowskin, and Little Egypt. The entire 80 acres is now being farmed in cotton and no traces remain of the homes and barnes that once stood where the children of Joe and Carrie Story were reared. Carrie told her family that she didn't know Joe before their marriage as it was arranged by her brothers. They took her to town about three days before the marriage where she hid behind a building to catch a glimpse of him as he rode by "on his fine steed."
