Tom served with the U.S. Army-Air Force in WWII. Tom attended Dover High School through the eleventh grade where he was an All-Ohio football player. Tom enjoyed reading novels, playing golf, photography, and ceramics. Tom worked for and retired from Timkin Roller Bearing Co., Zoarville, OH
From Daily Times-Reporter Obituary on April 3, 1989): "Thomas Daniels Sr.---Thomas E. Daniels Sr., 66, of RD 3, Dover, was dead on arrival Sunday at Union Hospital after an apparent heart attack during a school play at Dover High. He retired July 1, 1981 after 30 years with the Timken Co., of New Philadelphia. Born at Dover, he was a son of the later John W. and Amanda Swinderman Daniels. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Elks and Moose lodges. He was an avid golfer and an All-Ohio football selection for Dover High in 1939. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Stucky, with whom he would have celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary this month; two sons and two daughters, Thomas E. Jr., Scott D. and Marla Tidrick of Dover, and Mrs. Tom (Susan) Myers of Tuscarawas; a stepdaughter and a stepson, Judy Loibl of New Philadelphia and Daniel Snyder, stationed with the Army in Germany; two sisters and a brother, Dorothy Lechner, Mary Gummere and John "Jack" of Dover, nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Two brothers and a sister are deceased. Services will be held Thursday at 11 in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rrv. J. Richard Coyle officiating. Interment will be in Dover Burial Park.
