Tom headed the drama productions at Dover High School and has directed and acted in many local and regional drama productions.
Very talented actor, singer, guitar player (folk), he has performed in clubs, weddings, and various productions in and around the Tuscarawas County area since his college days. Tom and Marlene had supporting roles in Harry Chapin's "Cotton Patch Revival" at Lakewood Little Theater around 1985. He also played Will Rogers in the Little Theater's production of "Will Rogers' Follies".

Tom was appointed to be the grand marshal of the 17th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in New Philadelphia.
The following is from the March ?, 2003 Times-Reporter article:

" If you're lucky enough to be Irish, your lucky enough," according to one epigram.
Tom Daniels is just a wee bit Irish, but he's Irish enough.
"I'm mostly Welsh---I'm very welsh," said Daniels with smiling eyes that surely pass as Irish.
The Dover resident will serve as grand marshal of the 17th annual St. Patrick' Day Parade in New Philadelphia, and will reign over weekend activities that start Friday.
Daniels said his Grandpa John Daniels of Cardiff, Wales, arrived in the United States when he was about 14. The family still has the ship manifest.
Although he knows less about his Irish roots, Daniels is certain they run deep.
"The whole Celtic thing---I would have known innately that I came from there, because I'm so drawn to that'''the history, the music, the poetry," Daniels said. He and his wife Marlene, who is retired from Starlight Workshop at New Phila, hope to take a trip to Wales, Scotland, and Ireland.
Daniels paternal grandparents were Welsh, as was his maternal grandmother. But it was his maternal grandfather, Frank Morrison, who was from Northern Ireland.
A quote from Tom regarding Franklin Benjamin Morrison (Tom's grandfather from Roswell): "He always celebrated St. Patrick's Day. Grandpa Morrison was the only relative who really claimed the Irish. He left his family when he was very young, so we don't know much about his family, other than that they were Irish Catholic, and he wasn't"
Also from Chronicle Article: "From the time he could pick up a guitar or open his mouth, Daniels was singing. "I don;t remember a time ever not singing" he said. "My sister Marla played the piano. I would bug her all the time to play so that I could sing. She was very good about it." Daniels also loves poetry, and among his favorite poets is William Butler Yeats. The Irish poet, he said, is one of the greatest poets of the English language.
"Tom's father , the late Tom Daniels Sr, loved to sing and reportedlly sang with an orchestra in his younger days."
"Daniels said he was influenced by singers such as Phil Ochs, Harry Chapin, Gordon Lightfoot, Simon & Garfunkel, and Crosby, Sills & Nash."
"From the mid-1970s into the 80s, he sand as part of a duo known as Daniels and Rinehart, with Terry Rinehart of Dover. Then he sang with Kelly Goodrich for almost 12 years until Goodrich moved to Florida. Now a substitute teacher, Daniels also teaches at New Philadelphia's Opportunity School, an alternative educational program held evenings. Although he still sings in public occassionally, he's having even more fun spending time with his grandsons Joey, 4 and Jakob 3. Daniels and Marlene are thoroughly enjoying taking care of their grandsons while their daughter, Lori Demattio (correction: Lori DANIELS) attends nursing classes.
The couple's son, Ryan Daniels, also loves to sing and performs with Mike Chek.
Daniels and all past parade marshalls will be honored Friday at 8 p.m. at the annual Shamrock Swing in Denny's Grill at 110 Ashwood Ln. NW, New Phila. After the introduction of Daniels and other parade marshals, the Vaughan Brothers Band of New Phila and the band Saucebox will play. The Vaughan Brothers father, the late Joe R. Vaughan, served as parade marshal in 1991. Adm is $3.00 per couple.
On March 16, a Celtic worship service featuring Irish music will be held at 10 a.m. in First United Church of Christ at 201 Fair Ave. NW, New Philadelphia.
The irish Celebration Committee, Daniels and past parade marshals and family and friends will be among those attending. Following the service, an Irish dinner will be held in the church basement at 11:15. Charge is $6.00 per person.
Line-up for the St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 16 will take place at 1:30 at Tuscora Park. The parade will proceed to the Square then west to 1st Dr. where the parade will disband. After the parade, an Irish Celebration will be held at Danny's Grill in New Philadelphia where the McCallum Highlanders Bagpipers will play, as will the Harp Brothers (Terry Rinehart and Rick Michel). Daniels has been perfecting some Irish tunes and will sit in with the Harp Brothers, who seasonally adapted the name Harp Brothers {since the early 1990's].

The following quote by an anonymous Welshman pretty well fits Tom: "To be born Welsh is to be born privileged. Not with a silver spoon in your mouth, but with music in your heart and poetry in your soul."

Tom's wife's Marlene's grandmother also immigrated from Wales and her family has always been very proud of their Welsh heritage!
