"John Bailey married Magdalen ___ Peane, the widow of James Peane (died 1679). John Bailey's will was probated on 2/16/1712. No wife is named so it is assumed that Magdalen predeceased him. To his daughter Charity Thompson and heirs he left the land where she now lives, to her and her four children; Mary, Arthur, Charity, and Monica personalty. To his son William and heirs the land where he liveds to him and his children John and Elizabeth, and also personalty. To his son JOhn and heirs he left the land where he now lives and 95 acres adjoining which he bought of Richard Sheppey. To his daughter Mary acres, part of "The Bottom" adjoining her mother's land. To granddaughter Mary Bailey he left the other 50 acres of "The Bottom" To son James, he left the dwelling plantation, and the residue of his estate. He desired to be buried on his plantation. His son James bailey was named as his executor. The estate of John Baily =, planter, was appraised on 2/3/1712 and valued at 140.12.07. His next of kin were given as William Bailey and John Bailey, his sons. His children were also named in his accounts, and his son James was his executor."
