| I am researching the Darby family from Shotton in North Wales, Great Britain. William Darby (my grandfather) moved to this area in the early 1900's seeking work at the Shotton Steelworks. He married an Ethel Collins in 1918 and they had three children - Harold, Albert and Violet. William Darby's father was called Benjamin Darby but I have no other information relating to either of them and do not yet know from where they originated - although I'm told it was from the Staffordshire area. I am also researching the Gelder family from Connah's Quay in North Wales. John Gelder moved to this area with his mother Ann (or Annie) Gelder during the late 1890's and married a Sarah Ann Hughes. They had several children and Sarah died during one of the births. He remarried to an Alice Emily Bithell and they had three children together. John's father was called William and he also originated from the Staffordshire area. Any information relating to these families would be appreciated. |
