| Welcome to my home page. I am tracing my ancestry and am running into walls on a few lines: 1)Benedict Best, father to William Canady Best who was born in 1823 and lived in Lowndes Co., AL. William Canady Best was married to Elizabeth Bodiford and I have been able to find a lot on her ancestors. 2)William J(?) Schofield and his wife, Mary Ann Graham, who lived in Crenshaw Co., AL in the mid-1800s. 3)Jane Johnson (married name) who was born about 1815 in South Carolina and lived in Marion Co., GA (1850 census). Family history says she was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian. In the census, she was listed as the head of household and the following children were listed: Alexander, Martha, George, Andrew, Hannibal, Julia, Adam, Jessie, Thomas H., and Margarett (all listed as being born in SC, the youngest being 5 at the time).
