For over fifteen years I have traced the descendants of Østen Aas who lived in Norway during the mid 1500's. Through him came hundreds of family surnames such as: Aas, Aus, Amudson, Andersen, Anderson, Erpestad, Estensen, Estenson, Jensen, Johnson, Larsen, Larson, Østensen, Richardstuen, Skogstad, Street and many more. They lived in and around the Vingelen-Tolga region of Norway. The original farm Aas was in the district of Vingelsaasen. Over a period of time the farm was split into Nordistu, Oppistu, and Utistu. Some of the descendant emigrated to Minnesota USA between the 1850's and early 1900's. I am pleased to be able to share what I have and eager to receive more information. If you see errors, omissions or disagree with certain data please contact me!

I would like to acknowledge the following people who provided information contained in this home page: Mildred (nee: Estenson) Hiebert, Christina (nee: Estenson) Davey, Keith Davey, Grete Nybraten-Miller (who provided a copy of Andres Fløistad's genealogy), Jostein Røe, Knut Ellefsen, Roger Aus and Nadine (nee; Evans) Ford.

THIS SITE IS CURRENTLY UNDER REVISION. ONE FAMILY BRANCH,(THORE) HAS BEEN DELETED AND WILL BE RIVISED LATER

  • In Dedication to Mildred Hiebert (1908-1998) (45 KB)
I would like to dedicate this Estenson Home Page to Mildred (nee: Estenson) Hiebert who spent much of her adult life doing genealogy research on the Estenson tree. She even traveled to Norway in the late 1970's to search out her roots. More than 75% of this information came from her. It is hoped that through this web site I will be able to keep the Estenson legacy alive and up to date. She was a pioneer in the science of genealogy.
